Dental crowns

Crowns are artificial substitutes of natural teeth, covering teeth to the full extent. It is a treatment in situations when it is not possible to make a filling, inlay or onlay as a result of the extended loss of dental tissues.

Dental crowns Unlike facets, what is substituted is not just the front area of a tooth but the crown as a whole. After preparing the tooth and its imprint, a crown is made in a laboratory. The crown is cemented onto the snag of the tooth. Teeth have temporary crowns for the whole production period of the crown (about 10 work days). The patient never leaves the surgery without teeth.

Crowns are currently used for treating mostly dead (non-vital) teeth, in which there has been a significant loss of dental tissues.

The chosen option is preceded by an accurate treatment of root canals (a top quality endodontics). Only a tooth treated this way can be fixed with a metallic root structure, laid into a pre-bored root canal. It represents a bearing armature of the future crown and transposes chewing power to the root (this type of a root structure requires a radical reduction of the snag of a tooth).

For the safer transposition of chewing powers, these days we often choose the so-called adhesive type of root structure. It is a GFR peg, which has the same module of elasticity as dentine. This way significantly decreases the risk of fracture (disruption) of the root upon the stroke of the tooth, and possibly when biting down on a hard piece of food.

The adhesive type of root structure concurrently enables keeping the remaining dental tissues. A specially determined material builds up just the missing part of the bearing armature, the snag itself.

The third, and just as excellent feature (of the adhesive annex) is the fact that it is a highly aesthetic solution, so it has a wide range of use for front teeth. A condition for production is a dry operation field, so it is not possible to make use of GFR pegs with teeth having a defect going significantly below the gum and at the same time with patients who have low hygiene standards.

We give cooperating patients a 5-year guarantee for all fixing of orthotic substitutes.

Definite crowns are metal ceramic and whole-ceramic.
Metal ceramic crowns – the inner part of the crown is a metallic pouch (from noble or general metals) and a ceramic layer (porcelain) is burnt onto it. (porcelán).

Whole-ceramic crowns – highly aesthetic crowns where even a dry socket is made of hard and durable ceramic material.
Crowns can be applied onto a living tooth, onto a dead tooth with the pulp treated, and also onto implants.
