Orthotics (Dental substitutes)

The aim of an orthotic treatment is to substitute the missing part of a tooth, the tooth as a whole, or possibly a group of several teeth.

Orthotics (Dental substitutes)Dental (orthotic) substitutes allow for improvement of the shape of a tooth, its color, possibly its slope. With extended reconstructions of dentice, it is possible to adjust the height and type of bite.

In our surgery a carefully set therapeutic plan is always proposed with respect to the individual patient, with the highest possible focus on aesthetics and the long-term functionality of the dental substitutes. During the treatment we can make either a fixed or removable substitute. All orthotic work for our patients is done in two recognized dental laboratories in Prague.

Facets

These are thin ceramic slices substituting the front (visible) part of teeth. They are stuck to the detrited area of the tooth front. Facets can improve the shape, minor disparities on the surface of a tooth, and particularly its color, while minimally impacting the structure of the tooth (0,5-1,Omm). Inlay, onlay

These are ceramic substitutes, which reconstruct advanced defects of distal teeth. They represent a continual transition between the treatment of a tooth with a plain filling and the treatment with an artificial crown. They are suitable alternative to extended composite fillings and a fully suitable alternative to extended amalgam annexes. Click for further information.

Crowns are artificial substitutes of natural teeth, covering teeth to the full extent. It is a treatment used in situations when it is not possible to make a filling, inlay, or onlay as a result of extended loss of dental tissues.

Bridgework

Bridgework is a solution for substituting the missing teeth. It is a fixed treatment (or non-removable). The substituted teeth constitute a part of the bridgework as so called interlinks and the bearing armature are the teeth neighboring the gap, which are ground onto a crown and constitute the pillars of the bridgework. Removable substitutes

Removable substitutes – as is clear from the name – are dental substitutes, which are attached to the remaining teeth with a variety of mechanisms. It is possible to remove them from the mouth at any time, and to put them back in, according to the needs of the client, i.e particularly at times of regular hygienic maintenance of the denture. With simple anchoring (retentive) features

This is the simplest type of a removable substitute. Its retentive (catch) mechanism is just wire clips, by which the denture itself fits onto the remaining teeth. As they have a lot of disadvantages, they are used only as a temporary solution. Click for further information.

Denture skeleton substitutes

Skeleton substitutes are substitutes of higher quality, as their anchoring on the remaining teeth is more stable. So-called rigid (molten) non-wire clips are parts of the metallic skeleton of the substitute; their particular arms do not loosen, so they attach the denture better onto the remaining teeth. Hybrid substitutes

Hybrid substitutes are removable substitutes anchored to the remaining teeth with slide-in joints, possibly with a system of double-crowns (so called telescopes). They represent the most suitable and, from the viewpoint of aesthetics and use, the most comfortable option for a removable substitute. Click for further information

Complex removable substitutes

This is a substitute for a complete set of teeth (so called teeth into a glass). Click for further information
