Endodontics

This is the treatment commonly referred to as root canals, which is very important for the further life and complex treatment of a tooth. We provide this treatment with complications of caries, such as tooth inflammation, donitis, and necrosis of the dental pulp as a result of a stroke or clash (traumatogenic complications therapy). It serves as a means of keeping the non-vital (dead) tooth in the oral cavity without limiting its function.

The treatment itself consists in a careful cleaning of root canals (removal of unwanted necrotic pulp) and their hermetic filling. Only in this way can the tightened canal prevent dental bacteria from getting to the bone, i.e. rise of complications, such as ostitis in the tip of the tooth’s root (commonly known as dry socket) and other significant states, such as cysts or pertaining pains.

Long-lasting success of endodontics is provided if:

  • the root canal is deprived of all unwanted substances as perfectly as possible, mostly by a mechanic cutting of inner walls
  • the canal is three-dimensionally hermitically filled with a material that provides tightness throughout its whole course
  • after root canals have been filled, the tooth is adequately orthotically treated (with an artificial crown, a composite annex)

Endodontics

Such a treated tooth can serve its bearer for all the rest of his life. It used to be thought that the dentine of a dead tooth had lower firmness in comparison to the dentine of a vital (living) tooth. Through measurements these suppositions have not been confirmed; higher occurrence of fractures (disruption) of non-vital (dead) teeth is probably caused by insufficient or incorrect treatment, which follows the treatment of canals, i.e. reconstructions of crown-part of a tooth (post-endodontic treatment).

It is a treatment that has little visibility for the patient at the immediate outcome, but for the long-term durability of a filling or crown it has incomparable value. Each non-vital tooth, even if it is set with a beautiful and accurately made crown but with incorrectly treated canals, is a potential problem for the future. Such a tooth can result in complications of pain and swelling and it must be, not infrequently, extracted, although from all outward appearances the crown looks perfect. It is important, at the same time, to realize that if the extracted tooth is not substituted with an implant or bridgework, there will be further problems (sloping of the neighboring teeth into the gap, the teeth from the other jaw might travel out to this gap, and, in an extreme, they might touch the gum at the point where the tooth was extracted).

Re-endodontics

Repair treatment of previously done root canals. It is an effort to re-treat initial incorrectly treated roots of teeth. The success rate of such a repeated treatment is about 50 – 70%.

In our dentistry practice we make use of top quality devices for cutting root canals while carefully keeping to all technological regulations for the treatment.
