Children’s dentistry

A child needs to be relieved of fear. Each step of the procedures that are to be carried out within the treatment should be patiently explained. This could be done through games, which enable good cooperation.

The first appointment of a child at the surgery is usually informative. Unless it is necessary to make an appropriate treatment in connection with a painful current state, it is merely an entry check-up. The child has an opportunity to gradually get used to the environment of a dental surgery and have interaction with the dentist.

Parents are informed about the proper care of the dentice of their child and at the same time they are given detailed information regarding the results of the examination. If the child is at an age when they are able to brush their own teeth, the dentist presents the instructional directly to the child.

Just as the teeth of the permanent dentice decays, so do the deciduous teeth. Other than from bacterial plaque, the essential role is played by sugars, i.e. in the form of sweet tea, pacifiers dipped in honey, etc. At regular prevention check-ups (it is optimal to come to the surgery with the child every half year), it is possible to detect the beginning caries of smaller extent, whereby with removal with an intensive fluoride program or, possibly, with drilling off, it is possible to prevent complications, such as acute painful states, swelling and in extreme cases, extractions of teeth. At the same time, the dentist checks the appropriate eruption and position of teeth and does preventative sealing of teeth.

With diligent care of the deciduous teeth of your child, you can promote and better the chances of your child having healthy permanent teeth.
